The Creative World
Hi, I'm glad you made it!
The creative arts and I go way back. Sometimes they've been my trade, sometimes they've been my distraction. Regardless, they have always been a part of my life.
I've bounced around various disciplines. For the most part, I'm going to focus on the visual arts here. I'm not only going to present my best work, but also some of the works that have been stepping stones along the way. While it's generally the artistic destinations that garner all the attention, I like to cast a light on the journey.
Please enjoy the images and articles. If you have any questions, feel free to send me a message.

F-1 Firing Finished
Some images stick in your head from the moment you see them. One of these for me was seeing the awesome power of the burning fuel exiting the engines of a Saturn V rocket during lift-off. Continue reading

Finished Four Ristras
Finished work on the latest hunk of art. With “Four Ristras”, the underpainting was done with acrylics and a “hairy stick” while most of the refinement was done by shooting acrylics with an airbrush. I’d actually started out Continue reading

Upping the Output
I’ve been a bit annoyed this year at how low my output has been compared to the number of projects I have in the pipeline. The fact is that the combination of representational art and airbrush doesn’t exactly lend itself to amazingly high output. To that end, I’m going to try changing my approach a bit. Continue reading

Tilt-shift Photography Brings Van Gogh To Life | theCHIVE
Tilt-shift has been one of those photographic and photoshoppic tools that sometimes yields eye-catching results. Major kudos to 3rd-year art student Serena Malyon for coming up with a creative use for what is sometimes just a gimmick and turning it into an avenue for increased appreciation of a master. Well done. tilt-shift photography brings van gogh to life via the Chive (16 photos)

Dupli-Color Clear Top Coat Change
Like many other airbrushers who don’t have a spray booth or easy access to uro clears, I resort to “rattle can” options (i.e. spray cans) on those occasions when I need a finished piece–especially flexible pieces–to able to survive in the rough and tumble world*. For many applications, many paint-shooters (myself included) have enjoyed Dupli-Color Truck, Van & SUV Clear Topcoat #T125. While this acrylic lacquer should only be used with a respirator while in a well-ventilated area (seriously, it’s … Continue reading
